Terms of Service

Version 1.1 · Effective: 21 July 2026 · Applies to Britemet Software websites and Britemet Home · Privacy Policy · AI Policy

These terms describe how Britemet Software products work today, based on the Britemet Home product and supporting systems. They are provided for transparency and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer. Have counsel review and finalize before relying on them in production or regulated markets.

1. Agreement

By accessing britemet.com, creating a Britemet Home account, or using our services, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy and AI Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

“Britemet,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Britemet Software and the Britemet Home product operated at home.britemet.com. “You” means the individual or entity using the services. Britemet Estate, when offered under a separate order form or master agreement, may be governed by those terms where they conflict with these public website terms.

2. Services

Britemet Home is a household operations platform. It helps households organize and share operational information such as maintenance, inventory, documents, vendors, vehicles, finances, family and pet context, security notes, emergency information, travel and sitter guides, calendars, and related records. It includes role-based access for household members and an optional AI assistant (“Brit”).

The public website provides product information and contact forms. Contact messages may be routed to hello@britemet.com or estate@britemet.com depending on the form you use.

Britemet Home is provided for personal and household operational use. It is not a bank, insurer, medical provider, alarm monitoring service, or emergency dispatch system.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law (in many places, at least 18 years old) to create an owner account.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep it updated.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding credentials and for activity under your account.
  • Where offered, multi-factor or strong authentication should be enabled when prompted.
  • Household owners and admins may invite partners, children, sitters, and other members with limited roles. You are responsible for invitations you send and for the access you grant.
  • Do not attempt to access another household’s data without authorization.

4. Household roles and content

Access inside a household is role-based (for example owner, partner/admin, member, child, sitter). Children and sitters see reduced context by design. Sensitive fields (such as Wi-Fi passwords, safe or alarm codes, and optional medical notes) are encrypted and revealed only to authorized roles, with sensitive reveals intended to be audited.

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant us a limited license to host, process, back up, and display that content solely to operate the service for you and your household, including sending transactional email and powering optional AI features under the AI Policy.

You represent that you have the right to store information about household members, guests, vendors, and pets that you enter, and that you will not upload unlawful, infringing, or malicious content.

5. Plans, trials, and billing (Britemet Home)

Britemet Home is offered as a household plan. Marketing and product materials currently describe a free trial period (for example three months) followed by an annual subscription (for example $49.99 per year per household), with the household owner as the billing customer. Exact prices, trial length, and payment terms are shown at signup or in the product at purchase time and may change for new subscriptions.

Where Stripe or another processor is configured, payment is handled by that processor under its terms. If billing is not configured in an environment, access rules may differ for that environment only.

Unless required by law or stated otherwise at purchase, fees are non-refundable once a paid period begins. You may cancel according to in-product controls; cancellation typically stops future renewals but does not automatically erase data until you delete the account.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Use the service for anything illegal or to harm others;
  • Store or process data for other households or organizations without authority;
  • Probe, reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or disrupt the service or other users;
  • Bypass role, security, or encryption controls;
  • Upload malware or attempt to exfiltrate data you are not allowed to access;
  • Use Brit or other automation to violate these terms or others’ rights;
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation in a way that could mislead us or other users.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations, risk to the platform, or legal requirements.

7. Medical and safety information

Optional medical notes and emergency information are convenience tools for household organization. They are not a medical device, electronic health record system for clinical care, telehealth service, or substitute for professional medical advice. Do not rely on Britemet Home alone for medical decisions, emergency response, or life-safety monitoring. Always use local emergency services when needed and consult qualified professionals for health matters.

8. AI features

Brit and related AI features are optional aids. They can be wrong, incomplete, or outdated. You remain responsible for decisions you make based on AI output. Details of data handling for AI are in the AI Policy.

9. Privacy and security

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy. We implement technical and organizational measures appropriate to a household operations product (including encryption for highly sensitive fields, role-based access, and infrastructure on major cloud providers). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for device security and for choosing strong account protection.

10. Third-party services

The service may rely on sub-processors such as Amazon Web Services (hosting, authentication, email, storage, keys, and, in production, Amazon Bedrock for Claude), Stripe (payments, when configured), and Anthropic (Claude via direct API in non-production environments when configured). Their processing is limited to providing the service. Household AI can be turned off in Settings → AI & privacy. We do not sell personal data for advertising. See the AI Policy and Privacy Policy.

11. Intellectual property

Britemet Software, Britemet Home, Brit, product design, software, and branding are owned by us or our licensors. These terms do not transfer ownership of our IP to you. Feedback you provide may be used to improve the products without obligation to you.

12. Availability and changes

We aim for reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may change. We may modify these terms; for material changes affecting active Home accounts we will provide notice by email or in-product notice where reasonably practicable. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance, except where law requires otherwise.

13. Termination

You may stop using the service and may delete your account through in-product settings when available. We may terminate or suspend accounts that violate these terms or that present security or legal risk. After account deletion, household data is removed according to the Privacy Policy (including any short grace period and longer retention of certain security or legal logs where required).

14. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR BE FREE OF ERRORS OR SECURITY INCIDENTS.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BRITEMET AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES IN ANY TWELVE-MONTH PERIOD WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR BRITEMET HOME IN THAT PERIOD OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS (OR LOCAL EQUIVALENT). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED.

16. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Britemet against claims arising from your content, your misuse of the services, or your violation of these terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

17. Governing law

Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, these terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Britemet Software is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that jurisdiction will have exclusive venue, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. Consumers in the EU/UK may have mandatory local consumer protections that apply regardless of this clause.
